How to Make Home-made Natural Perfume

Natural perfumes have a therapeutic effect. Aromatherapy has been known to induce a calming effect on the body, soul and mind and helps lower stress levels. Unlike store-bought synthetic perfumes, natural perfumes do not contain harmful chemicals and toxic substances. Synthetic perfumes may contain cancer causing elements and can cause asthma and other life threatening disorders. While synthetic perfumes are expensive and allow dangerous toxins to seep into to your skin every time you spray it on, the good news is you can make your own natural perfume right from home.

The process is simple and the best part is you can use your own ingredients to alter the fragrance. Homemade natural perfumes are basically a mixture of essential oils so you can make your own natural perfume right at home using your favorite ingredients. Here are a couple of popular recipes to help get you started:

Cucumber Lemon Body Mist

Looking for a good perfume to refresh you during the summers? Well, the cucumber lemon body mist is the perfect perfume for you. The combination of cucumbers, lemons and Aloe Vera will instantly boost your mood, making you feel upbeat and happy. Aloe Vera is great for your skin and mixed with cucumber, the combination leaves your skin feeling hydrated and fresh.

Ingredients

• 1 Cucumber
• 3 Tbsp of Lemon
• 1 Tsp Aloe Vera gel
• 1 Tbsp Rosewater

Method

Peel a regular-sized cucumber and blend it for a minute or two. Next, cover a bowl using cheesecloth or a napkin and strain the lemon juice into the bowl. Add the cucumber, rosewater and Aloe Vera to the bowl. If the mixture is not according to your desired consistency, put all the ingredients back in the blender and give it a quick whirl. Transfer your mixture to a spray bottle, and your mist is ready! If the mist is a little too strong for your liking, you can add some distilled water to dilute the mist. Store the bottle in the fridge and enjoy! The perfume should last about a week.

Lavender and Vanilla Perfume

The sweet and relaxing scent of vanilla combined with lavender will have a calm and relaxing effect on you. Fragrances help relieve the body of stress and have a therapeutic effect on the soul.

Ingredients

• ½ cup of Alcohol or vodka
• 2 Tsp vegetable glycerin
• 1 cup dried lavender flowers
• 2 whole vanilla beans
• 15 drops of lavender essential oils
• 12 drops vanilla extracts

Method

Use a sharp knife to carefully slice open the vanilla beans into half. Place the vanilla beans into a small jar with the dried lavender flowers. Next, pour in the alcohol and quickly secure the lid of the jar. Now all you have to do is to wait. Let the mixture infuse for a week. Once the mixture has been infused, strain and discard the beans and the lavender flowers. You can now pour in the glycerin, lavender essential oils and add some vanilla extract into the jar. Stir the mixture and replace the lid. You need to let the mixture infuse for about 6 to 7 weeks to get a strong scent. Once the mixture is done, you can strain and pour it inside a spray nice bottle.

That's it for this week. If you've enjoyed what you've read, share it with a friend and don't forget to visit our forum.
