Sultry Summer Love

Hello, and welcome back! I'm fighting with my computer this week, but wanted to get this up to share with you. We're getting a break from the miserably hot weather this week--it was cool enough to venture to the farmers' market/flea market nearby and find some out of print books at a couple stands, but the bookstore is calling me, too, this week. There are a few books I simply have to have, so I'll be dragging the boys along (not that they complain--they get new books everytime we go, too) and coming home with my bag full to try and make room for them on my bookcases.

And this week's two books are both keepers I'll have to find space for as well, so I'll get started on them now. First up is the latest anthology from Brava, I Love Bad Boys with novellas from Lori Foster, Janelle Denison and Donna Kauffman. "Indulge Me" from Lori Foster goes back to the sex shop she introduced in a past story, this time with Becky Harte taking her turn to shop and try to find the man to fulfill her fantasies. Co-worker George Westin's had a tip from a friend, and he wants to make sure he's the man she chooses, though he is a little surprised by her bondage ideas. Great fun and super-hot romance here--a given when you pick up a Lori Foster story.

Janelle Denison's "Naughty by Night" has Gabe Mackenzie coming back to town to try to get his woman. Chloe Anderson has painful memories of the last time she gave in to her body and heart with Gabe, but when she wins their poker game, he's hers for four nights to do with what she wants. But does she want to risk getting involved with him again?

And finally, in "...And When They Were Bad" by Donna Kauffman, Cameron James it trying to find out if he's capable of anything more than being a nice guy, so he's headed off for a weekend at Intimacies, a private island club. When he discovers Allison Walker in a situation she needs extricated from, his inner nice guy finds that maybe being a wild man isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I love this anthology. The stories are quick reads, though you'll want to keep a nice cold beverage handy and might have to crank up the a/c a notch or two. Of Cupid's five arrows, I'm giving it four.

The other book I have to share with you is Linda Castillo's The Perfect Victim (Jove). Addison Fox has just lost her adoptive parents and is having difficulties in locating her birth parents. Randall Talbot happens to be hungover in his brother's p.i. office when she comes in to drop off some information his brother needs to start digging into her past, and Randall mistakes her for someone else. Needless to say, her first impression of him isn't favorable. But when he saves her from a gun-toting robber in her coffee shop, she may have to adjust her opinion. Addison and Randall are one interesting couple, and they generate some serious heat. You probably want to sit down with this one when you have uninterrupted reading time, though, so you can find out whodunit and how they'll get out of trouble. This one's earned four and a half arrows.

Until next week, happy reading!
