Texas Bad Boys

Hello, and welcome back! It almost feels like fall is coming here, but I'm sure it's just wishful thinking on my part. Oh well, I'll keep wishing, and eventually, it'll get here anyway. In the meantime, I have two new September releases to share with you this time out.

Texas Bad Boys Texas Bad Boys (Brava) is the latest 'Bad Boys' book in Brava's long line of Bad Boys. This one has stories from Rosemary Laurey, Karen Kelley, and Dianne Castell, with three half sisters who've never met, each inheriting a different property from their late grandfather. In Laurey's 'In Bad with Someone', Juliet ffrench has inherited the Ragged Rooster, Pete Maddox's bar. A bar Pete had promised to Rod Carter, who was running the place for him. This was my favorite of the three stories, with the most believable romance development between Juliet and Rod, who strike sparks off one another from the beginning. In Kelley's 'Run of Bad Luck', sister Nina Harris has inherited Pete's ranch, which, conveniently, Pete had promised to foreman Lance Colby. This one's got plenty of heat, but Lance's sudden 'gotta do it' moment later on isn't very convincing. Castell's 'Come to a Bad End' was my least favorite, with sister Lillie June changing Pete's hotel into a spa, and ticking off the men in town. Sheriff John Snow's promised to convince her to change it back, but I can't figure out how he thought he could do that. Lillie's behavior doesn't ring true to me, nor does John's. For the first story, I'm giving this one three and a half of Cupid's five arrows, but the other two stories just didn't work for me.

Good Girl Gone Bad Good Girl Gone Bad (Pocket) by Karin Tabke has former IA officer Philamina Zorn assigned to work with vice cop Ty Jamerson, an officer she had investigated several years previously for his bad behavior. This one is mostly about the sex. Sure, there's a little suspense about three women gone missing from a strip club, but the bulk of the action, so to speak, is Ty and Phil. There's also a little more suspense in Phil's investigation into what happened to her father when he was on the same police force. If you want decent erotica, this might appeal to you. If you were hoping for a little more romance with the sex, this one was a little lacking in that department for me.

Until next time, happy reading!
