Movie - Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead

This month's movie is about an Australian named Joe who comes to America to do a juice fast after deciding that he was fed up with being fat and sick. The comedic film clearly announces that Aussies are as fat as Americans.. so heads up Americans! This film is for you too. You will follow Joe's journey across the USA as he does a 60 day juice fast followed by months of raw foods. During his journey he talks with random folks on the street about their health, their weight and their diet.

During his lifestyle altering adventure he ended up stopping the use of most his prescription medicines early on, 11 of them in total, some of which were used to repress a chronic skin rash. His new doctor, who is guiding him on this fast, and as well as a nutritionist discuss in the film the benefits of whole and living foods and why they sustain you and promote health. By the time Joe was done he became totally medication free.

During the fast Joe was required by his doctor to get blood tests every 10 days to make sure he wasn't getting in trouble. The blood results only showed improvement as he went along.

After 60 days he takes his first bite of solid food up in a hot air balloon and he reaffirms his intent to eat mainly micronutrient food. He lost 82 pounds and Man! What a good looking, sharp, hot guy he suddenly became!

Shortly after returning to Australia he receives a phone call from a truck driver that he interviewed during his visit to the USA who was asking for his help to fast. Joe returns to the USA to assist Phil on a 10 day fast which brings hope and success to a man who was depressed and at the near end of his rope. Phil ended up fasting for 60 days. His inspiration motivated him to sponsor a community juice fast with the assistance of the local health food store to supply loaned juicers to participants.

Phil has become a shining example of how taking your health seriously and empowering yourself can lead to a new life. So many times people state that food dictates their life socially and at work. Phil changed his ways and his social life changed and his work changed and all for the betterment of his health and mental attitude. This film documents the power of juicing not just for the vegetarian or the health fanatic but for regular people who want to live long and healthy and free of disease.

I highly recommend this film to anyone who says that they can't do it. These people prove that you can!
This film is found on Streaming Netflix.
