Strawberry Alarm Clock is best remembered for their hit song Incense and Peppermints, released in 1967. The band is usually thought of as a one-hit wonder band that faded into obscurity after their single hit. But, many classic rock fans may not be aware that they actually had two songs reach the Top 40. They also released two other songs that entered the Top 100, reaching numbers 65 and 67. By the time the band broke up, Strawberry Alarm Clock had released a total of four albums plus a few singles on the side.

Incense and Peppermints made it to number 11 on the charts, and has been enough to secure the band's place in classic rock history. But, Tomorrow was also a moderate hit at number 23. After this song, two members of the band left. A new lead singer joined, but stayed for only a year before departing. Yet another new lead singer joined and stayed until 1971 when the group finally broke up. By this time, the band had lost many of its fans, and the ones who remained were often confused about the lineup of the day.

Since that time, there have been a few reunions of the band. In The 1980's, Strawberry Alarm Clock reunited for concert dates alongside other reunited classic rockers. But, only a few of the reunited members were the original players of Incense and Peppermints fame. The nostalgia parade continued over the years for various occasions. In 2004 and 2007 the band reunited with its original lineup for reunion concerts. These were the first complete reunions of the original lineup since the break up occurred.

To see Strawberry Alarm Clock as they once were, there were a few movie performances of Incense and Peppermints. In 1968, the band appeared in the movie Psych-Out with Jack Nicholson and performed four songs as themselves. In 1970, they appeared in Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, performing three songs. Yes, both movies did feature Incense and Peppermints. They may have released four albums of music, but that song has become their classic rock legacy.
