Alluring Tales

Hello, and welcome back! Winter is back in our neck of the woods, though still without the snow, I'm sorry to say. I suppose at this point, I'll have to settle for a beautiful spring to arrive and wipe out this cold and wind and hope that next winter is more wintry than this one was. Work is crazy, but I'm about to get a bit more reading (and writing) time: our store is closing for about a week and a half for remodeling, which means I'm going to have some reading time while babysitting the construction crew. I've dug through a fair number of March books already, so I have books waiting for the next batch of reviews at this moment. In the meantime, I have three new books to share with you today.

Alluring Tales: Awaken the Fantasy Alluring Tales: Awaken the Fantasy (Avon Red) has stories by Vivi Anna, Sylvia Day, Delilah Devlin, Cathryn Fox, Myla Jackson, Sasha White and Lisa Renee Jones. These are fairly short, quick reads, some steamier (and better written) than others, but as a whole, I'd say the collection is just about average for the erotica on the market currently. I didn't love any of them, liked some and didn't like others. Ultimately, none of the stories really stand out; I found I had to go back to skim to remember most of them, so it's a fairly forgettable collection, I'm afraid.

Irresistible You Irresistible You (St. Martin's Press) by Francis Ray is next with the last of her Grayson heroes, Pierce, whose mother is determined to marry off all her children. Pierce isn't interested in long-term, so when he meets the lovely actress Sabra Raineau, he thinks he can keep things light and temporary, just like her stay in Albuquerque will be. And, despite Sabra's past, neither of them counts on complicated emotions getting into the mix. This one struck me as sweet, with a not-too-complicated conflict between the pair. I'm sure fans of the series will be thrilled to get their hands on the last of the Grayson boys, and a little sad when they reach the end.

The Great Scot The Great Scot (Brava) by Donna Kauffman is up last this time. Erin McGregor has to find a new location for the reality show she works for, and fast. Dylan Chisholm wants no parts of the show, but the village nearby is counting on the show to make them some money. Erin and Dylan manage to come to an agreement eventually. I have to say, I didn't like Erin from the start, so I had some difficulty in wading through this one. Even the setting didn't grab me, and you all know how much I love Scotland. I liked Dylan better by the end, but I just didn't feel the same way about his mate, so I'm afraid this one is not a keeper for me. What a shame.

Until next time, happy reading!
