There have been some funny nicknames given to pro tennis players over the years. Many come from long-time tennis journalist Bud Collins. See if you can match the the nicknames below with the real name of the tennis professional.

  11. John McEnroe (Brat) – known for his on-court outbursts, including the now famous “you cannot be serious”.

  12. Ilie Nastase (Nasty) – known for his use of less-than-respectful tactics to influence a tennis match to go his way.

  13. Mark Philippoussis (Scud) – known for having one of the fastest serves in pro tennis (like a scud missile).

  14. Ken Rosewall (Muscles) – a slightly built man with a soft serve.

  15. Pete Sampras (Pistol Pete) – possesses one of the most accurate and powerful serves of all time.

  16. Arantxa Sanchez Vicario (Barcelona Bumblebee) – known for being a very feisty competitor to the end with great foot speed around the court.

  17. Maria Sharapova (Siberian Siren) – born in Siberia and known for her on-court squealing and screaming when attacking the ball.

  18. Betty Stove (Duchess) – born in the Netherlands (of Dutch origin).

  19. Wendy Turnbull (Rabbit) – primarily a doubles player known for her quickness and foot speed around the court.

  20. Todd Woodbridge/Mark Woodforde (Woodies) – this Australian partnership won 12 Grand Slam doubles titles.
