Past Lives

When startling coincidences begin surfacing in dreams and relationships, they can prompt us to look further into their meaning. Can we remember past lives and can we learn anything about the life we're living now.

Have you ever had a dream that placed you in another time or dimension that was filled with so much emotion and detail, it was difficult to ignore? After several hours, days or even years, it's still just as fresh and real as the moment you had it.

When an event or name of a face slips our mind, usually a trigger of some sort gradually brings the memory to the surface. It could be a vision, word, scent or song and suddenly details begin to unfold. Past life memories work the same way.

One of the first places we can retrieve these memories, is in dreams. We may or may not play the staring role or look differently as well as others in the dream, but the experience reaches far beyond what we might normally dismiss. It can be good or bad but we'll feel compelled to reflect, as if trying to solve a good riddle.

Another place we can find hints will be in our relationships. Whether it's a friend, foe or love interest, these are people we have experienced before. Group incarnations, like family, may hold uncanny relevence in terms of dates and events significant to one or many of the individuals belonging to the group.

Although, busy in the life we live now, there are some reasons for trying to recall a past life. We may want to change something we are having particular difficulty with such as a person that isn't good for us, an unexplainable fear, tendancy or addiction. We may also have a recuring memory surfacing on its own that seems to beckon us or just be curious.

If you want or need to recall a past life, start simply. Write down significant likes and dislikes. Do you root for the underdog or dismiss those with less than you. Are you drawn to a specific culture, era, or geographical location? As you begin organizing these facts, other clues will begin to surface.

Finally, remember, more often than not we will have lived very ordinary lives. It may be tempting to place ourselves in significant historical roles, but those roles are fewer and if nothing else, can come with a providence of boundaries, we might be glad to not otherwise have had.
