All of Me

Hello, and welcome back! We're having one of those rainy April days that made us do that chant as kids. Except that we really need the rain here, so I'm not complaining today. Besides, that just means I can ignore the weeds a few more days and spend the day playing in my books. Darn.

This time out, I have Lori Wilde's All of Me (Grand Central). Jillian Samuels didn't know it when her day started, but she's about to have the granddaddy of bad days: winning her latest case doesn't make her feel happy, and then she finds out her mentor and stand-in dad has dropped dead. Worse, the day of the memorial service, her lying ex becomes her new boss and makes a very inappropriate advance to her. Even finding out that her late mentor has left her a cabin in Colorado doesn't make things right, but it's a fresh start, which Jillian grabs with both hands. Except that when she gets there, Tuck Manning is living in the cabin, still mourning his late wife, who happens to be the daughter of Jillian's mentor. And Tuck believes the cottage is his, deeded to him months ago. They decide to share the house while Tuck's lawyer searches for the paperwork regarding the deed. Jillian is a city girl, so living in the tiny town of Salvation is an enormous change for her, but she's determined she's staying, no matter what. The trouble is, she and Tuck keep bumping into one another, and it begins to set off serious heat. For Tuck, that's scary, as he hasn't yet given up the memory of his wife and their love. But Jillian is here now, and the feelings he thought he'd never experience again seem to be blossoming for her. I liked Jillian and Tuck quite a lot, as well as the cast of quirky characters who populate Salvation. I don't know that I'd call this one a keeper, but it's a great way to spend a rainy April afternoon. This one's earned three and a half of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
