On the Prowl

Hello, and welcome back! I've got a weird late shift at work today for inventory, so I'm getting ready to take a little nap, or try to. But that means putting down the book I've been reading; sadly, it's not going to be that difficult to put the book down, which means the book isn't all that terrific. I'm afraid I've read nearly all the good May romances already, though I have one good one I've been saving, while I hope that one of the other two left is going to surprise me.

This time out I have Crystal Jordan's On the Prowl (Aphrodisia). This one has three stories, all starring the Cruz family, three shapeshifting brothers and one sister. 'Claim Me' starts things off with oldest brother Antonio who's found has mate, Solana. The trouble is, Antonio is now the Pride leader, and Solana is a non-shifter, which makes her lower than dirt in the eyes of some of the Pride. Even Antonio's father banished her when she was younger. Now, though, Antonio has no intention of letting his destined mate get away. 'Take Me' has sister Andrea returning home to the Pride and meeting her own mate, Miguel, her brother's second in command, but Miguel might have to leave the Pride to return home to his own family. And now that Andrea has had her freedom in recent years, she's not too keen to be under anyone's control. 'Need Me' has twins Ricardo and Diego meeting Isabel when she seeks refuge with their Pride, and it turns out she's fated to mate with both of them. But Isabel has just escaped one man who tried to force her to do what he wanted, and she's not sure she can trust herself with these two wild men. The first story was pretty good, but the next two, I realized as I was reading, are really just the same story over again. Sure, the third has two heroes instead of just one, but the issues within are basically the same, particularly in the second and third tales, and I got bored well before the end of the third story, I'm afraid. This one's earned only two and a half of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
