My husband and I had gone to the drive-in to see a movie. I can’t quite remember what the movie was that we went to see because I found myself watching another movie playing on a screen next to ours. That movie just happened to be “Up.”
In "Up," a young Carl Fredrickson meets an adventurous and spirited young girl named Ellie, with whom he shares a dream and makes a promise of going to a Lost Land in South America. However, 70 years passes, and Ellie dies before Carl can fulfill his promise. However, when Carl inadvertently strikes a construction worker, he is forced to leave his home and memories of Ellie to go to a retirement home. But, before he is taken away, Carl launches hundreds (maybe thousands or millions, I lost count) of balloons and flies his home away, only to discover that he has a stowaway aboard, an 8-year-old boy named Russell, who’s trying to earn his “Assisting the Elderly” badge. Setting off on an amazing adventure, Carl and Russell run into talking dogs, a rare bird (Russell names it Kevin), and, unfortunately, an evil villain. With so many obstacles in his way, will Carl be able to fulfill his promise to Ellie and to himself?
“Up,” the #1 Animated Film of the Year by Director Pete Docter and Co-Director & Screenwriter Bob Peterson of Disney Pixar, is an amazingly entertaining and heartfelt animated adventure. It features the talented voice cast of Ed Asner, Christopher Plummer, and John Ratzenberger.
On November 10th, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment released “Up” on DVD and Blu-Ray. If you missed “Up” while it was in theatres, you now have your chance to experience this hilarious and artistically entertaining animated adventure with your entire family, with this four-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack, and two-disc DVD.
