Keeping Up with the Thompson's

After reading my new Golf Week magazine this story about the Thompson family was like a roller coaster ride. They have to keep their iphone and emails on a constant alert with three in the family playing in golf tournaments around the U.S.A. The first was a picture of Alexia Thompson with a headline that read, “She’s bullish on turning Pro.”

It was a story of Alexis who has energy to burn and after the Curtis Cup win she was headed to Atlantic City to make her professional debut in the ShopRite LPGA Classic. The amazing part of this story is that Alexis is fifteen years old and already has sponsors to burn. One is with the Red Bull company for a spot on her headwear. She also has sponsors of Blue Giraffe Sports and Puma but most of all the Cobra Clubs. She used these Cobra clubs at the Curtis Cup Classic.

Her father Scott Thompson who also caddies for her says she is 10 yards further off the tee with her new S2 Pro driver. That would make a believer out of anyone so the Cobra deal was a winner. Her father says she has gained thirty yards of carry off the tee since last year’s U. S. Women’s Open so this improvements will surely help her go a long way on the professional tour. She is someone to look for in weeks to come.

Alexis is not the only golfer in the family, her two brothers Nicholas age 27 and Curtis 17 are also playing in golf tournaments. Nicholas was playing in the St. Jude Classic in Tennessee while Curtis was at the Sunnehanna Amateur in Pennsylvania. Although Nicholas missed the cut at the St. Jude Classic it still kept the cell phones and emails flying that must be amazing with this family.

Nicholas says that every summer is especially busy with his family, he says they are everywhere but keep in touch with calls so they can find out where everybody is playing. Nicholas did not make the U. S. Open so he was back in Florida but Curtis was competing at the AJGA FootJoy Invitational in Greensboro, North Carolina. Alexis is making her Pro debut at the Shop Rite LPGA Classic in New Jersey with father Scott carrying her bag. When they all get together they will have lots of stories to tell one another. Sounds like a fun time for this family.
