Eco-Friendly Date Ideas

Some people still think of being environmentally friendly as nothing more than a trend. However, being eco-friendly is a necessity. Despite that, no one ever said that saving the Earth couldn't be fun! In fact, you can pair going green with your next date. Here are some great eco-friendly date ideas to consider.

Eat at an organic restaurant.

Going out to eat and going on a date go hand in hand. However, did you know that you can make this activity "greener" by choosing an organic restaurant? With that said, what makes an organic restaurant better for the environment?

In general, organic restaurants serve low-impact dishes by offering many plant-based options. In addition, many of them support local farmers, so you will enjoy fresh farm-to-table vegetables. As an added benefit, most organic restaurants don't use plastic either, which further helps the planet.

Visit an organic winery or brewery.

Visiting a brewery or winery is always a fun date idea. However, you can take this idea up a notch when you choose to visit an organic winery or brewery. The difference is that they practice sustainable agriculture.

Most organic wineries and breweries offer taste-testing events that make for perfect dates. Some even offer guided tours that give you a better understanding of how an organic winery works. Don't forget to visit the shops before you leave so that you can take a little organic wine or beer to go.

Go for a hike.

Who said that going on a date has to be expensive? Enjoying a hike is not only a cheap date idea but also an eco-friendly one. You get to explore the great outdoors and get some exercise too. Studies show that exercising releases endorphins that make you feel good. Having the endorphins flowing on a date can only serve to improve the overall mood.

Have a picnic.

While going to a restaurant is a date-night staple, you can put your own twist on this by going for a picnic instead. Having a picnic is not only more romantic but also as eco-friendly as you want it to be. Remember to take nondisposable plates and cups!

Want to really take your date to the next level? Pair going on a hike with having a picnic. You can spend the whole day outside with your special someone while doing your part to keep the Earth green. Don't forget to fill your picnic basket with healthy, organic foods too.

Go to the beach.

Who doesn't like going to the beach? Turning a day at the beach into an eco-friendly date isn't hard. You can spend the day swimming, building sand castles and having a picnic alongside the water. Keep in mind, however, that the same rules for a picnic apply, so remember to take nondisposable plates to avoid creating more trash.

Just because you want to enjoy a romantic date doesn't mean that the Earth has to suffer. Use the ideas above to enjoy an eco-friendly date with that special someone in your life.
