Ohio Dumb Laws

Okay, Folks. It is that time of the month again. Time to visit some dumb laws still on the books and this month we visit Ohio. Just scanning the list, I can say that Ohioans are some crazy people to have these laws enacted. We will begin with the state laws and then visit different cities in Ohio.

This first one is quite understandable. In Ohio, it is illegal for more than five women to live in a house together. I, personally, have had problems with just one woman living in a house with me. I simply cannot imagine five or more.

It is illegal to mistreat anything of importance in Ohio. I guess it must be okay to mistreat anything not of importance, though.

I guess if you want to commit a crime in Ohio, do it on Sundays or the Fourth of July because civil arrests are forbidden on these days.

You can be fined $25.00 if you play horseshoes or croquet within one mile of someone giving a speech on Decoration Day (Memorial Day), in Ohio.

In Ohio, women are forbidden to wear patent leather shoes in public, just so men don't catch a glimpse of said womens' underwear, through the reflection of their shoes.

I haven’t been to Lake Erie, but I am pretty sure it doesn’t have whales in it. However, if you do go to Lake Erie in Ohio to fish for whales, don’t do it on Sundays because it is illegal.

All right, now let’s visit a couple of cities in Ohio and check out their laws.

In Akron, if you have colored chickens for sale, don’t display them because it is illegal to do so.

Posting signs at swimming pools is illegal as well in Akron. I wonder if that goes for warning signs and hours of operation as well.

If you live in Canton, Ohio, you will find that if your pet tiger gets loose, you have one hour to call the police to let them know. I guess if you wait an hour and a half, you can be arrested or fined or maybe both.

Electric fences are banned in Canton. I would have to think that if the electric fences were allowed, your pet tiger might not get loose.

Okay we will finish up in Bexley, Ohio, where according to Ordinance number 223 prevents the installation and usage of slot machines in outhouses.
