Inspirations to get you where you want to go!
By Addie Johnson
I love when I open my mail box, and find some sort of treasure.
Recently it was a new book by Addie Johnson, actress and author of several inspirational books, including A Little Book of Thank Yous, and Lemons to Lemonade.
The back cover was actually the first thing that caught my attention. It reads:
Never, never, never, give up. ~ Winston Churchill ~
Or, put another way, don’t GIVE UP – GIVE in to your own inner strength, stick to it, and the sky’s the limit. ~ Addie Johnson
As an author and artist, I find this to be true. When I’m sticken’ to it the sky is truly the limit. But what happens when I fall flat, loose my motivation and want to give up?
I think a lot of us ask this question, and there’s really no easy answer, because the only answer is one we generally don’t want to hear when we are at a low; you just have to stick to it!
Stick-To-It-Iveness is that bit of inspiration we need when we are at that low. It is a very easy read, and filled with positive uplifting quotes, not only from the author, but from a variety of sources, including Mae West, Gandhi and Winston Churchill. She includes personal anecdotes and bits of information that uplift and inspire!
One of the things I really like about this book is that the author will take a quote, then add her own spin to it.
By prevailing over all obstacles and distractions, one may unfailingly arrive at his chosen goal or destination. ~ Christopher Columbus
Or maybe, arrive at a destination just as good – like say you’re looking for a trade route to Asia and you stumble upon the Americas instead. ~ Addie Johnson
Stick-To-It-Iveness is humorous, inspirational, and informative! You’ll learn something about the founder of KFC, and what good parents penguins can be! It’s also a sweet little book, about 6 x 6 inches, and just over a 100 pages (there are no page numbers, so this is a best guess). It would make a great gift for a friend, co-worker, student, or anyone who seems to need some encouragement or a bit of inspiration.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and thought about passing it on to a friend. Unfortunately, for her, I would miss it too much as a source of inspiration for myself on those days when I need that boost to get me where I want to go.
This book was sent to Deanna Joseph by the publisher, free of charge, for review purposes.
