More female candidates of choice!

The election is getting closer and closer, and if you listen to the news, you already know, they are projecting bad things will happen for democrats. Typically, being a democrat means being Pro-Choice and although not always, losing to the Republicans could have monumental negative effects on women’s reproductive rights.

This week, I again, highlight some of the nominees for various seats, and states, who are women, and support choice.

-Barbra Boxer for U.S. Senate of California was an author of the Freedom of Choice Act. Her opponent Fiorina is in support of overturning Roe V. Wade, & a women’s right to choose. Boxer wants funding for sex education, and contraceptives to prevent unwanted pregnancies, and supports having emergency contraception available at all military health facilities.

-Pat Murray for U.S., Senate of Washington, wants to help provide contraception to low income women, and is in support of Federal abortion funding. She also sponsored a bill for rape victims to receive emergency contraception.

-Dina Titus for U.S. House of Nevada has been a member of Nevada’s government since 1993 and at teacher of government before that at the University of Nevada Las Vegas for thirty years. She voted for Federal funding of abortions and coverage to be provided under insurance company health plans.

-Suzan Delbene for the U.S. House of Washington is a firm believer that women and their physicians are the only people who should have a say in a woman’s medical decisions, and not politicians. She wants sex education, funding of family planning, and requirements that insurance companies cover contraception in their coverage plans.

-Betsy Markey for U.S. House of Colorado is gaining significant ground in the race against, Pro-Life Republican candidate Marilyn Musgrave. She is firm in her belief of women’s right to choose, and voted for funding of family planning organizations.

-Julie Lassa U.S. House Wisconsin- A strong advocate for a women’s right to choose as well as abortion funding. She is also against coercion tactics like informing a woman that her fetus may feel pain, when she is seeking an abortion.

If you are pro-choice, and I have to assume, most of you are, because you are here, it is essential that you vote in the November 2nd, 2010 election. The republicans are poised to take back the government we fought so hard, to gain back. Their side does not favor women’s choice. Whether you are a woman or not, you have sisters, mothers, aunts, nieces, & daughters, whose lives may depend on these votes someday!

It is crucial you make your voice heard. No government, politician, or man, should ever tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her body! Please do not give them your vote, by staying silent.
