Are you a fan of Godzilla and other classic Japanese monsters? If so, then Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee lets you live out your fantasies!
This isn't a game about earth-shattering realism or believable sounds. While the graphic models of each monsters are quite nice, the cities you stomp through are pretty basic. There are a variety of building styles and shapes, but each is the most simple of renditions. You can interact with the cities, smashing down buildings and throwing them at your opponents.
Each monster has his own special moves, from Godzilla's laser-beam to Destoroyan's red-beam laser sword. The sounds give you a sense of each monster's personality. As you go, you unlock pictures, new monsters, new maps and other bonusses (or is that bonii?).
This isn't a game requiring a lot of thought. Your monster lands in a city - LA, SF, Tokyo, Osaka, Seattle, etc. You bash the buildings and your opponent. In "Destruction" mode you simply bash a city, gaining points for what you knock down. There are several other modes that involve multiplay, either cooperatively or against each other.
Some parents might be upset that the game is all about destroying things. So this is something to keep in mind for very young children.
A good party game for mindless bashing for a weekend, and also a great way to blow off steam after a long day!
