Grand Style Ground Beef Recipe

Grand Style Ground Beef Recipe
Casseroles, it seems, are popular again. They are easy, most have minimal ingredients, and they are often a full meal in a dish, requiring very few, if any, accompaniments. Grand Style Ground Beef is a casserole that my kids loved while they were growing up, and it was so easy to put together, it became a “go-to” dinner on busy weeknights. Most of us keep a pound or two of ground beef in the freezer, and also a few cans of soup on our pantry shelves, so the ingredients for this casserole are probably already in the house. Certainly this is not a casserole for food snobs, since it uses convenience foods, but snobbery sometimes has to lose out to saving time, and in this case, saving time tastes really good.

I generally pair this casserole with a green salad or vegetables for a complete meal. You can use your favorite refrigerator biscuits, but we like the flaky layer variety best.

8 Servings

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
1 10 3/4 ounce can cream of mushroom soup
1 10 3/4 ounce can milk
1/4 cup catsup
1 16 oz. can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and onion; drain well.
  2. Stir in the cream cheese, soup, milk, and catsup; simmer for a minute or two to blend flavors.
  3. Pour in a 9 x 13" glass casserole dish and top with the biscuits.
  4. Bake at 350° until the biscuits are brown and cooked through, about 25 minutes.
