Bed Rest Tips During Twin Pregnancy

Bed Rest Tips During Twin Pregnancy
Bed rest can be one of the most difficult parts of a multiple pregnancy. Some of us have had singleton pregnancies before and didn’t even think about the possibility of being "sentenced" to bed rest! Although it is tempting to ignore what your physician says, it could mean the difference between having your babies in the NICU for weeks and being able to take them home right away. I was on bed rest for a whopping total of 4 weeks and although I must admit I went a little crazy, I kept it together by doing the following:

I made sure that although I knew that I was clearly not going anywhere, I changed from my pjs to regular (comfortable) clothing. A person that stays in their pajamas all day will very likely be a little down. While you’re at it, make sure your hair is done and you spritz a little of that body splash. These things just help perk you up!

I am very thankful to be living in an era where someone can still be connected to the outside world even though their feet are up on a pillow! If you don’t own a laptop, try to find a friend that may lend you theirs for the time being. Join pregnancy forums, start your twin baby registry (one of my favorite twin sites is https://Stuff4Multiples.com), or just read the latest gossip!

Start picking out the designs for the twin baby announcement. I assure you that you will not have too much time on your hands after the twins are born. This way, all you need to do is fill in the specifics, print and send. Voila!

Catch up on all the television shows that you haven’t had time to watch lately. Make sure to record them for after the babies are born. It’s very likely that you will not be able to watch them “live”. I made it a point during my bed rest to catch up on all the movies that everyone raved about.

Have your partner or friend bring you a manicure set. It is a known fact that a good manicure can perk you up instantly. The best part about this is that you know that since you’re not washing dishes or cleaning the house this manicure is going to last ten times longer!

Make the calls! Call friends and family over and see if you can schedule their visits. Tell them to bring a board game or a favorite magazine that you can sit down and chat about. I know that sometimes you will not want to see anyone but a little social interaction is just the thing to pass the time!
