Gabby, God's Little Angel Book Review

Gabby, God's Little Angel Book Review
Gabby God's Little Angel, Sent to Show God's Love is written by Sheila Walsh and illustrated by Marina Fedotova.

As the story begins, Raffles, the senior angel who is in charge of all the little angels, looks for Gabby, who is in guardian angel training. When she arrives (she has had an accident on the way) he gives her her new assignment, guardian angel to Sophie who has mishaps as well.

Down on earth, Sophie's excitement for the day is getting to ride her pony for the first time. Gabby has her hands full keeping Sophie on the pony when the pony is startled and the ride gets rough. That evening Sophie shares with her mother that the ride was scary but she felt that someone was protecting her. Her mother takes that opportunity to tell Sophie how much God loves her and how He sends His angel to protect her. She reads Psalm 91:9,11 to Sophie. It is just enough Scripture for a young child to understand and I like that Sophie prays and thanks God for sending His angel to help her stay on her pony. This is a good pattern for prayer - very specific.

The story is short and to the point, making it a perfect bedtime story for a young girl. The illustrations, by Marina Fedotova, are beautiful, showing Gabby hovering around Sophie and her pony, and playing with a kitten on Sophies dresser.

I think this is a great children's story with just enough whimsy to keep a little girl interested and enough truth to teach her about God's love. I'm only sad that my granddaughters are teens now and not in the best age group for the book. I'll be looking for a young girl to introduce to this book.

Sheila Walsh is the author of God's Little Princess Series children's books as well as adult inspirational books. She is currently completing her masters in theology and is an accomplished musician. Sheila and her husband and her son (who bears a striking resemblance to Raffles in this book) live in Frisco, Texas.
