A Pro choice candidate of the 2012 U.S. Senate
With the war on women increasing in legislative bills and laws by the day, it’s good to feel like there is hope.

Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin is a pro choice democrat that has been the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district, since 1999. She announced in September 2011 that she was running in the 2012 election for Wisconsin’s Senate seat. Her successor Herb Kohl, is retiring.

Baldwin was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, graduating High School as valedictorian. She has a bachelor’s degree and a law degree.

First elected to political office in 1986 Baldwin was elected to the Dane County Board of Supervisors, and served there until 1994. She also served in Madison Wisconsin City Council, as well as having a seat in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1993 to 1999.

Baldwin was the first woman ever elected to Congress from the state of Wisconsin.

Her work in protecting the rights and lives of women is as extensive as it is impressive.

Baldwin defends the United States Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade to protect a woman’s right to reproductive health and freedom. While she values that abortions should be rare and safe, she feels strongly that it a personal decision, made from the collaboration of her family, doctors, and life situation.

She believes all women across the globe should have full control of their reproductive health care choices and that there should be safe, legal and affordable contraception for everyone.

Baldwin is also a major proponent of adoption both here and abroad to help reduce the number of abortions necessary as the result of an unwanted pregnancy.

She is in opposition of cutting Title X family planning funds.

She is against reinstatement of the global gag rule, a United States government policy that ordered all non governmental organizations that receive federal funding to forego performing or promoting abortion services, for the practice of family planning, in other countries.

Baldwin is a staunch supporter of lowering the teen pregnancy rate, and of unintended pregnancies overall.

She could be just what we need to end the war on women and take back our rights!
