I am often asked to recommend books that are suitable for children that have a quilting theme. This is the second article in the series on Quilt themed books for children. I have been doing some research and have come up with the following books. Perhaps you’ll find one of these suitable for your little ones. Boy And The Quilt written and illustrated by Shirley Kurtz
This book encourages quilters to include their children in their hobby.



Quilt Block History of Pioneer Days written and illustrated by Mary Cobb
This book is all about quilting and the westward movement.



Luka's Quilt written and illustrated by Georgia Guback.
This story is a Hawaiian tale, that helps children to choose right from wrong.



Selina and the Bear Paw Quilt written by Barbara Smucker and illustrated by Janet Wilson.
This is a beautiful book all about the memories a quilt provides.



The Quiltmaker's Journey written by Jeff Brumbeau and illustrated by Gail de Marcken.
A delightful story in the Quiltmakers Series.



Pieces: A Year in Poems & Quilts written and illustrated by Anna Grossnickle Hines
This book contains beautifully lyrical poems with matching miniature quilts.



Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt written and illustrated by Deborah Hopkinson.
Although a work of fiction, a very sweet story that gets one thinking.



Quilting Now & Then written by Julie B Dock and Sarah Morse and illustrated by Karen B. Willing.
This publication is a beautifully written book that tells of the history of quilting in America.



The Quilting Bee written and illustrated by Gail Gibbons.
A beautifully presented publication that introduces the child to the concept of quilting in the community.



Eight Hands Round: A Patchwork Alphabet written by Ann Whitford Paul and illustrated by Jeanette Winter.
This book has been successfully used by primary teachers and librarians alike, to incorporate in the curriculum requirements of each year level.
