EAS Carb Control Rich Dark Chocolate Shake

EAS Carb Control Rich Dark Chocolate Shake
The EAS Carb Control Rich Dark Chocolate Shake has 17g of protein, 3g of net carbs, and 110 calories. How does it taste?

EAS Carb Control Rich Dark Chocolate Shake First, I will explain that I adore the EAS chocolate fudge shake and normally have one every morning for breakfast. So I appreciate the EAS brand quality immensely.

The test here was to see if the relabelling that happened in early 2013 was accompanied with a shift in recipe. Sometimes companies do subtle changes to their recipes over the years. It's well worth re-trying products occasionally - especially when the labels change - to see if the flavors and textures have changed as well.

So I do like the texture and thickness of the EAS Rich Dark Chocolate shake. It's thick enough to give it some substance, but not so thick that it heads into milkshake land.

Flavor is always a personal decision. Some people adore a flavor, and others dislike it. That's fine. We all have different taste buds. So I can say that, for me, this is too rich /mocha for me to drink in the morning. When I wake up I'm not in the mood to eat much of anything. However, I know that giving my body nutrition is important after an all-night fast. So the EAS shake is my compromise. It gives my body what it needs without requiring me to "eat" anything. But for me, this is too rich. I'm not in the mood for thick chocolate first thing in the morning.

I'm sure for some people it will be just right! So I want to be clear that it's not a BAD flavor. It's just, for me, not an ideal flavor.

In terms of nutrition, for the 11oz container there is:
3g fat
110 calories
20mg cholesterol
360mg sodium
610mg potassium
3g net carbs
under 1g fiber
17g protein

I'll note the EAS website says this has 2.5g fat, 25mg cholesterol, 340mg sodium, and 360mg ptoassium.

There's also 20-30% of just about every vitamin one could imagine (well the standard ones at least). So you get a good amount of nutrition here. I have my shake in the morning with a Centrum multivitamin and other vitamins, so I don't rely on the shake to get me to 100%. Still, it's nice that it helps. I also appreciate the 3g of fiber - it's hard enough to get the full amount of fiber one should every day.

Well recommended for those who enjoy the chocolatier flavors.

It's important to note, for those new to EAS shakes, that EAS has MANY lines of shake. So make sure you look for the Carb Control brand to get the low carb ones. Some of their other lines are very high carb and are meant for serious athletes who are burning through calories.

I purchased this shake with my own funds in order to do this review.
