Sleeman Clear Low Carb Beer

Sleeman Clear Low Carb Beer
Sleeman Clear Low Carb Beer hails from Canada and has only 2.0g of carbs with 80 calories. Have you tried this low carb option yet?

Sleeman's brewery dates all the way back to the early 1800s. It's changed hands several times over the years, and in 2006 it got bought out by Sapporo - makers of Japanese beer.

Sleeman puts out all of its bottled beer in clear containers, which I'm generally against. My studies on skunking find that a beer can skunk in under 10 minutes with any light shining on it. This is both sunlight and house light. So if you're going to buy Sleeman, make sure you reach to the back of the shelf at the store and keep it in the dark until you're ready to drink it.

The Sleeman group says that it uses a skunking-resistant hop to deal with the clear bottle issue, but resistant is not immune. It's still going to skunk.

The values on Sleemen are fairly good:

carbs: 2g
calories: 80
amount: 11.5oz
alcohol: 4.0%

I haven't been able to get my hands on this to test it, though. Maybe a drive up to Ontario is called for. They have awesome ice wine in that area.

Have you been able to sample this one?

2014 Update: This beer is simply not available in the US from what I can find. It will need to be a roadtrip up to Canada for this one.
