Manage User Accounts in Windows XP
In Windows XP each user that accesses the computer can have their own username and password which either is assigned to them or created for them. There could be instances were you need to modify information about the user account. Below are procedures necessary to provide basic user account management in Windows XP.

Change Windows XP User Account Picture
The picture next to your name in the Windows XP menu can be changed to a different picture. Here are the steps:
  1. Click Start

  2. Click on the icon at the top of the window next to your user name

  3. Select the picture that you want to be the new picture from the selection shown or browse for additional pictures.

  4. Click Change Picture

The picture is now changed!

Change Password in Windows XP
  1. Click Start

  2. Click on the icon at the top of the window next to your user name

  3. When the User Accounts screen appears click Back

  4. Click Change My Password

  5. Type in new password and then type again to confirm

  6. Click on Create Password

You password will now be changed – remember that your password is case –sensitive.

Change User Login Name in Windows XP
  1. Click Start

  2. Click on the icon at the top of the window next to your user name

  3. When the User Accounts screen appears click Back

  4. Click Change My Name

  5. Type in your new username

  6. Click on Change Name

Create a User Account Password
  1. Click Start

  2. Click on the icon at the top of the window next to your user name

  3. When the User Accounts screen appears click Back

  4. Click Create a Password

  5. Type in your new password and then type again to confirm

  6. Click on Create Password

Your account now password protected – remember that passwords are case-sensitive.

Remove Password from a User Account
  1. Click Start

  2. Click on the icon at the top of the window next to your user name

  3. When the User Accounts screen appears click Back

  4. Click Remove my Password

  5. Type in current password to verify your identity

  6. Click on Remove Password

The password for your user account has now been removed. You can add a password back at any time.
