Kids Are People Too

Kids Are People Too
Grown-ups can sometimes forget that children are people who need respect, privacy and consistency. Answering "because I said so" is not always the answer.

What can you do to get children to accept responsibility while building their esteem?

_Be consistent and clear when giving directions.

_Be consistent and clear about discipline.

_Never compare your children to someone else.

_Say thank you and please to them as you would with anyone else.

_Do not make statements that ridicule or shame your children.

_Show your children that you trust them.

_Keep your promises.

_Encourage and praise your children.

_When you make a mistake say "I'm sorry."

_Encourage children to give back to the community and volunteer.

_Teach your children right from wrong.

_Value your children right to privacy.

_Let your children know they are loved.

Remember that no matter what you say children still learn by your example.

Hone your skills for work and family and you hone them for living life to the fullest
