Asher's Sugar Free Low Carbs Bars

Asher's Sugar Free Low Carbs Bars
Asher's has several chocolate bars that are similar to thick Hershey's bars, sometimes with fillings. They have under 2g per bar and make a nice treat.

We tried the dark chocolate and the raspberry filled bar. Both were nice and chocolatey, although the raspberry bar for example had a full 25.6g of sugar alcohol in it. That's pretty hefty! The ingredients list includes maltitol, maltitol, more maltitol and sorbitol.

If you are at all sensitive to sugar alcohols, I'd be very wary here. Sugar alcohols do not cause you to gain weight, but they are digested in the intestines - meaning you can end up with gas and other digestive issues. It's always wise to have one small dose, see how your body reacts after an hour or so, and then go from there.

The raspberry cream was very gushy and tended to make a mess. Which is nice if you enjoy those liquid centers, but rough if you only wanted to eat half a bar. The bar has 190 calories and 7g of saturated fat.

This isn't a bar to eat every day. You want most of your daily food to be fresh and natural! But if you have a craving for chocolate and aren't sensitive to sugar alcohols, this is a nice treat to indulge in.
