Sugar Free Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

Sugar Free Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
You want to see something scary? Really LOOK at the ingredients in your classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Each component is simply LOADED with excess sugar!

Start with the peanut butter. Tons of extra sugar. Jelly? Yup, sugar-saturated. Even the white bread is low in fiber and high in sugar. And we feed these things to our kids daily? It's no wonder our children are turning into blimps.

Being on a low carb diet, I'm on a quest to remove unnecessary sugar from my foods. Luckily, you can now make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich WITHOUT all that ridiculously added sugar.

* Skippy Carb Options Peanut Spread
Skippy's spread tastes DELICIOUS, just like sugar-filled spread. It's smooth and creamy. And it only has 3g of sugar in it, compared to the huge amounts in regular peanut butter. Highly recommended. No child should be eating "regular" peanut butter - either go with this one or a natural variety.

* Smucker's Sugar Free Grape Jam / Polaner Sugar-Free Strawberry Preserves
Yet another place where we sweet-tooth our kids. Have you seen the sugar content of jelly? These options have **80%** less calories than the regular version. That's just scary. This sugar-free variety has 5g of carbs, NO sugar.

* Country Kitchen Light Wheat / Arnold Multi-Grain
Yup, hopefully by now you know just how bad "white bread" is for you. Who invented that stuff? They strip out all the healthy fiber and leave behind the bland starch. THAT isn't good for you. With two slices of wheat you get lots of fiber, no trans fats, and only 12g carbs. Even those in the early stages of a low carb diet can have a sandwich or two a week, and anybody wanting to eat more healthy should be eating these regularly instead of the nasty 'regular bread' on the shelves.

I'm on "low carb lifestyle" meaning I have gotten to my ideal weight and am easily maintaining it now. I eat these sandwiches regularly and really enjoy them. They're quick, easy, and tasty. It really does scare me to look back and think of the junk I used to eat thinking it was a "healthy sandwich". Hopefully in the future parents will know better about the massive amounts of sugar found in seemingly innocent meals!
