Cranberry Almond Snack Recipe

Cranberry Almond Snack Recipe
It's always good to have healthy, tasty snack options around. This cranberry almond snack recipe is low in sugar and provides good nutrition, too!

Ingredients:
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup almonds
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup low-sugar brown sugar

Start by melting the butter. Stir it into the brown sugar. Now add the almonds and dried cranberries and thoroughly coat everything.

Microwave this for about two minutes.

Lay them out on a paper towel so they can cool without turning into a gigantic, sticky mess :). Then enjoy!

Carbs:
this has 6g for the cranberries, 10g for the almonds, and then the brown sugar values will depend on which brand you get. Depending on where you are in your low carb progress you'll want to portion this out into small amounts to give you the quick sweet-tooth-fix when you're hit with a craving. Remember, the key is to eat mindfully, one at a time. Savor each piece. Don't put a giant bowl of these in your lap while you watch a romantic movie :).

You can also substitute other nuts, if you want to raise or lower the carb values, or mix in other items. It all depends on you, your taste buds, and where you are in your low carb lifestyle. Those who are just starting out on induction have different needs than those who have been maintaining their chosen weight for years.

As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how you customize this. Did you add in some spices? Maybe macadamia nuts or peanuts? How about some dried blueberries or strawberries? There are all sorts of things you can do to liven this up while remaining low carb. It's all about experimenting, being open to new ideas, and seeing what happens.
