New Music Review
New CreationMaureen Gee
On this debut project from Ms. Gee she shows a true heart for God and sings of his love with great enthusiasm. Produced by Milton T. Williams and Derrick Starks this album has something for everyone. There are festive songs like the island inspired "Sweetest Lullaby" and moving church organ ballads such as "With Jesus in Our Lives". Ms. Gee hails from London England and you can hear the European flavor in her voice, no wonder she is a sought after speaker. Ms. Gee has made it clear to all that she is a "New Creation" and that is a wonderful thing. You can check out Maureen Gee at www.2blessedmusic.com

Fly Like A Bird and My Saving Grace from the Emancipation of Mimi and Charm BraceletMariah Carey
Call me old school or plain old fashion but I was normally of the mindset that secular artist should sing secular music and gospel artist should sing gospel music. I usually don't believe in the trend of going back and forth because as we all have read "No one can serve two masters, either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other."Mt. 6-vs24. So I have always believed that in order to do full justice you must serve only one. I can honestly say that for me things have changed. Listening to artists like Mariah sing praises to God has really changed my thoughts. Now with that being said I have also read "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord" Ps. 150-vs6 So if an artist that is secular wants to praise God then by all means I think they should be allowed to do just that. (Oh boy is my e-mail box going to overflow! Smile) this is what Mariah does on these two songs. If you remember "Free" by Denise Williams you will love "Fly Like a Bird". Mariah uses that beautiful voice of hers to convey a sprit of freedom and wonderment that must be felt when we as Christians are "carried off home" with our Lord and savior. She sings on loving each other and not allowing the world to break our free loving spirit that lives inside of each of us. Listening to the lyrics of this tune only makes sense of the use of the track from the Denise Williams old school joint. It's all about being free like a bird when God calls us home. Now I have always been a Mariah Carey fan, (check out my article "My Favorite Christmas Music") a voice with that many octaves should be respected but she really shines on the next song "My Saving Grace". On this traditional flavored song she sings of God's grace and how He has given her strength in her times of need. We all can testify to this message. Really a great duo these two songs are. All I have to say is..."How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!" Ps. 147-vs1 Both of these tunes serve that purpose...now I'm waiting on the entire gospel album. Check out Mariah Carey at www.mariahcarey.com
