Actress Heather Locklear Files For Divorce From Rocker Husband

Another of Hollywood's long-term marriages bites the dust this week, as actress Heather Locklear has filed for divorce from her husband, musician Richie Sambora, of the rock group Bon Jovi.

Locklear and Sambora tied the knot a year after her divorce from Lee was final, on December 17, 1994 in Paris. Daughter Ava was born three years later, in October of 1997.

Neither Lee nor Sambora are commenting on the demise of their marriage, other than a statement released through her publicist simply stating, "This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time."

In court papers filed on Thursday, Feb 2, the actress cited "irreconciliable differences" as the reason for the divorce and has requested physical custody of the couple's 8-year-old daughter, with visitation rights for Sambora. They also have a prenuptial agreement in place that determines how their assets will be divided.

Locklear, 44, has forged a career on tv shows. Her debut was on the nighttime soap, "Dynasty" in 1981, and over the years, she's been a featured actress on several long-running series, including, "T.J. Hooker," "Melrose Place" and "Spin City." She most recently did a multi-episode stint of the Emmy-winning series "Boston Legal."

Sambora, 45, plays lead guitar for Bon Jovi, a band he helped start in the 80s. He is currently on tour with the band, in support of their recent cd, "Have a Nice Day." He has also released two solo cds, and written songs for several soundtracks.

Having met both Locklear and Sambora over my years as a writer, I'm personally heartbroken to hear of this divorce. But I, and BellaOnline, send our best wishes to both of them, in this difficult time.
