Finola Hughes Returns to General Hospital

Finola Hughes Returns to General Hospital
Anna Devane Scorpio, played by Finola Hughes, is coming back once again to Port Charles for a brief run of episodes. When Anna last appeared on our screens, she was a dedicated groupie of the singer Eli Love, played by Rick Springfield. She then headed off for parts unknown on one of her super secret spy missions. Her new scenes are set to air starting on April 24th when she comes home to find out that her daughter is pregnant. It will be interesting to see how this international super spy handles the prospect of becoming a grandmother.

Finola originally appeared on General Hospital from 1985 through 1992. She has the distinction of being the only General Hospital actress to ever receive a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress. She was one half of two madly popular couples during that time: Anna and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) and also Anna and Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan). Much to her fans’ delight, she has been able to juggle her busy career and has been back to General Hospital a few times for guest appearances. She also appeared on All My Children as Anna and her twin sister, Alexandra, from 1999 through 2003.

Finola has worn many hats in her entertainment career. She started out as a dancer and was one of the original characters in the London production of Cats. Her many acting credits include roles in the two popular movies Staying Alive and Soapdish. She has also written a fictional account of the soap opera world in her book, Soapsuds: A Novel. Over the years, Finola has also become a large presence in the fashion world and she currently hosts the Style Network reality show, How Do I Look.

In person, Finola is wonderfully charming and witty and is very passionate about her charitable causes. She is actively involved with the plight in Darfur and she supports the Damazo Majak Foundation. Their mission is to help Africans that are affected by war, poverty and HIV/Aids and to help provide them with educational services.
