Hidden Valley Bacon Ranch Dressing

Hidden Valley Bacon Ranch Dressing
I'm in general a fan of Hidden Valley dressings. They have a great flavor and texture. The bacon ranch adds a nice hint of bacon to the flavor. Yumm!

To start with, Hidden Valley makes a number of ranch dressings, so they are generally good with the process. This is a main focus for them. The dressing is thick but not too thick, spreads well on the salad so it clings to the veggies without being a sludge. You can put it on as thick or thin as you like, based on your personal preferences.

The bacon ranch adds as subtle but tasteable bacon flavor to the mix. I normally like adding bacon bits on top, so I was wondering if this would really be worth it to me, but I was pleased with the result. Again, it's not like you're eating pureed bacon. Instead, it's a light hint that permeates the dressing.

For each serving you get no trans fats, only 1g of carbs, 1g of protein, and 230mg of sodium. There are no nutrients to speak of, but the salad is there for that! The purpose of the dressing is to make the salad really tasty, so you eat your salad every day that you want to for health reasons.

Sometimes people ask me if I would recommend salad dressing X or salad dressing Y. I highly recommend a different approach. I would have 3 or 4 different salad dressings in your fridge at any given time. That way each day as you make your salad you can have something different with it. Regular ranch one day. Oil and vinegar the second. Bacon ranch the third. The more you mix things up, the more you'll continue to crave and look forward to your salads as a tasty part of your day. Variety is definitely a good thing here.

So if you're a fan of bacon flavor, I'd definitely recommend adding this one into the mix. This will help you keep enjoying your salads, keep those fresh veggies and nutrients coming in to you. So many studies show that having regular salads is a key part of maintaining body health. Make sure your own eating plans include regular salads, try new veggies in them each week, and be healthy!
