Lipton Cup-A-Soup Chicken Noodle

Lipton Cup-A-Soup Chicken Noodle
A key of healthy eating is to eat regular healthy snacks during the day and to stay hydrated. The Lipton cup-a-Soup has only 45 calories per serving and 8g of carbs. Nice on its own as a snack, or with a salad as a lunch!

I admit it - a main reason I have these boxes on my shelves is that they are REALLY easy to make and eat. If I'm in a hurry but need to get some food into me, this is perfect. You microwave water for 2 minutes, pour it in and VOILA you have soup. There are numerous times that I fall into this situation where I know I should eat something but I just don't have the time to cook something real.

The soup is reasonably good tasting. It has a nice broth with a bit of light herb, little squares of carrot and then noodles. They are the flat style noodles in little 1" strips. It only takes a few seconds for them to hydrate and become edible.

Really, you don't even need a spoon to eat this. You can just sip it out of your coffee mug. Of course, if you want a spoon you can use that too! Usually I have a spoon to stir it up but then just drink it.

The nutrition is pretty good. Only 1g of fat - no saturated and no trans. Only 10mg cholesterol. 45 calories, 8g carbs, 2g protein. Yes, 8g carbs would be high if you're in induction, but after that this makes a lovely lunch component. And it helps you stay hydrated, since you're in essence drinking water by having this.

The only real down side here is the sodium. Packaged products are notorious for being high in sodium and this is no exception. You get a full 540mg - or 23% of your daily value - in this one serving. If you have a generally low salt diet of fresh food, it might not matter at all to you. However, if you're actively trying to cut salt out of your daily foods and are having a problem doing that, this is not going to help out at all! So if you're having salt issues, I'd recommend staying clear of this.

That being said, this is easy to store on the shelf, or in your desk drawer, or even in your glove compartment. It makes a quick, filling snack or light meal. Well recommended!
