Invisible Book Review

Invisible Book Review
What a fun character Ivy Malone becomes in this book! Ivy is a feisty old lady who finds herself in uncomfortable positions at every turn of this book. Before her best friend passes away, they begin snooping around about some suspicious people and activities. Then her best friend passes away and Ivy is on her own to uncover the murder and past of he friend's tenant. She quickly discovers that once you reach a certain age, senior citizens become invisible to a lot of people. She uses this to her advantage when becoming a self made private investigator. I found myself asking "how much more can she get away with?" then she does something else wacky and outrageous. In Ivy Malone, readers will find a combination of wacky humor, endearing stubbornness, and unconventional sincerity. This is the first Lorena McCourtney mystery I have read, but it will definitely not be the last.

There are a lot of Christian overtones in this book. One of the police officers that Ivy becomes friends with is torn about something in his life. Ivy and another character really push him into going to church. Some people may be turned off by this but you have to remember Ivy is from a generation where Christianity is the most popular religion. Just learn to overlook it. Ivy is comparable to Mrs. Pollifax and Miss Marple mysteries.

While at times it seemed like there was a lot of filler to this story, it was still really good. I loved the character Ivy. She is a spunky old lady that just will not give up even when her life is in extreme danger. I was so mad at the ending of this story because there was no closure BUT there are 3 more books to this series!!! I am off to buy the next one!

I downloaded a copy of this eBook on my Nook for my review. I was not compensated in any way for my honest review.
