Red Alert 2 - A Fun Sequel

The Command & Conquer series by Westwood is one of the classics in strategy gaming. When the first one came out, based on the Dune 2 model, gamers became addicted to it. Subsequent releases were just as popular.

With Red Alert 2, the long awaited sequel, there are many interesting changes, but the basic game itself has not gone through any evolution. You've now got land, sea, air, and covert units ... the units gain rank as they fight, increasing in skill level.

Instead of always fighting in remote mountain passes or desert islands, you now can fight on the streets of America - send your tank across a baseball diamond, or watch McBurger Kong go up in smoke. There are even drive-ins and other buildings!

Units can now garrison within a building, which is a great defensive move. Some special buildings even give you extra advantages if you take them over. Unit groupings and waypoints are all done with great user friendliness.

While the missions themselves are relatively easy to get through, they are really just a training ground for multiplayer. Strategy gaming and multiplayer go hand in hand by now - the computer can never match to the intelligence of another human. If you've gotten through all the missions, you have only begun to experience what Red Alert 2 has to offer. Now it's time to go on line!
