On Line Strategy Gaming
OK, you've got the game you always wanted, and run to your computer
room to set it up. You trounce the computer in various ways, learning
how to play properly. Then what? Unless you have a network in your home,
it'll be hard to play with your friends in the comfort of your living
room. That's where the Internet comes in!!
One of the best things about the internet is it allows people across the
world with similar interests to get together. This definitely holds true
for strategy gamers. There are many servers out there dedicated to allowing
strategy gamers to play with each other. Here's a look at a few of them.
MSN ZONE
Probably the best known out there (it is run by Microsoft after all), the
MSN Zone boasts quite a large number of games. The AoE series is on there,
Close Combat, MechCommander/Warrior, Heroes of Might & magic, Total
Annihilation, and many others. The ads are slightly annoying, but in general
the interface is pretty easy to use, and the response time reasonable.
Mplayer.Com
Quite heavily advertised, Mplayer is chock full of great strategy games!
Populous III, Red Alert, Dark Reign, Warcraft, Warhammer 40,000, Panzer
General, you name it. The entry pages for each game list quick tips and
techniques for the game, and how to set up the connection.
Heat.Net
A sure site for hard core gamers, heat.net has been around for quite a while.
Look for good competitors and some fast action!
Case's Ladder
Want to prove your worth against other opponents? Give this a try! Nicely laid
out ladders and tournaments help you progress against your enemies, and get
credit when you come out on top!
Wireplay
Based in the UK and Australia, Wireplay not only has on line games, but also
a shop for you to buy games you don't have yet, and cash prizes for some
of their tournaments! Practice up!
