Starship Titanic Review
Maybe you got it because you were hooked into the Titanic hoopla. Perhaps it was the nutty references to Monty Python. Or maybe you're just a gamer who loves the roam-and-wander style of Myst-like adventures! No matter what the reason, Starship Titanic has something for everyone.
The graphics are incredible. The monkey-faced pneumatic tubes, the multi- level lower class staterooms, the bell at the reception desk. The wood glows, the marble reflects, and often it's fun just meandering about and looking at the rooms.
The gameplay is intriguing too. The characters have personalities, voices, and accents. The parrot had us cracking up with laughter many times! The doleful monkeys almost make you feel sorry for them.
The interface is in general quite helpful. You have text you can scroll through, items to examine, and my usual giant stack of notes was a smaller size in this one.
That's not to say it's easy, or that there aren't annoying aspects to the game. There are some rooms where you have to turn at exactly the right angle to see something. You can easily miss things that you know you should be looking for. It often takes 10 tries to prove to yourself that there really isn't a way to get to Spot X. This is a common problem for these types of games, though, so you can't really fault Starship Titanic for not solving everything!
In general, this is immensely fun, and has something to appeal to all levels of game players. Write in with your hints and tips!
