Joan of Arc 1
OK, the first French level. Just as the William Wallace ones were
cool for the Scottish accents, these have a great French accent and
gorgeous backgrounds for the mission specs. This annoying girl Joan
wanders in and bewitches everyone and now you have to escort her.
Maybe it's just because I
HATE
escort missions. I like to build.
In any case, that's what you have to do.
You don't really have a choice about where to go, people will say
"Don't go that way" or bridges will be out. You have to wait for a
battle to end in the first area, and then you hit the broken bridge
and turn north. Go around the walls you find in this area, and cross
another bridge to find a village to the far north. The guys there will
join you.
Go back down to the fortress area and go through the door with the
ram you find. Leave the ram behind!! If you keep it with you now, it
will slow down your entire party and you'll be killed. Sprint left, and
get onto the boats waiting for you. You should have more guys than
can fit on the boats, so get the boats across and downstream.
There's a landbridge to the south. If you go east from here, there's a village
with friendly folk that are willing to join you. Drop off a few units here to grab them. If you go back north, tho, and land on the beach to the west, you won't encounter much resistance at all as you move west to the Dauphin. Be sure to return the boats for the leftover guys - usually I have four ships worth of guys at this point.
Now you're pretty set - head west. The orange guys (lovely houses, did I mention
I love the graphics?) are your friends. Go into their castle area and
"meet the Dauphin". If you've not seen Henry V, with Kenneth Branaugh,
that would be a good movie to see around now :)
