Diablo 2
Act 1: Den of Evil
The Den of Evil isn't too far off, but first you probably want to clear out the area immediately around the camp. Like everything in Diablo it's randomly drawn, so it'll be different each time you play. It's enclosed by walls, and there is a sealed off area in its middle. Wander around, first stepping into the Rogue Encampment Waypoint. Waypoints are an easy way to jump from location to location without trudging back and forth.
There are a few shrines in this area - check out the Shrine Master List to see what might appear. They are randomly generated and located, so it's the luck of the draw as to how helpful the shrines are for your character.
Your enemies here are rather meager - Quill Rats are little porcupine things that take one hit to destroy. There are Zombies which you can slice in half or bash. Push all the rocks you find, there are treasures hidden beneath most. Gotta love those jumping coins :)
If you try to leave this area before finishing the first quest, you get warned that you're not ready yet. Go past anyway, just to the next waypoint, for Cold Plains. That way when you're ready for the next part you can just hop there.
You shouldn't have much trouble locating the most infamous Den of Evil. Note that if you find it without having gotten your quest from the Head Priestess, it'll instantly enable the quest anyway.
Head on in. It's a rocky little area, with Fallen (red hoppy things) and Fallen Shaman. Get the Shaman first - they can ressurect their Fallen friends. They also shoot fireballs. You'll probably level up in here - find somewhere safe and explore your increase options. Don't forget there are different kinds of skills you can increase.
There's usually a Mana Shrine in here, which can be handy. Be sure to use the ALT key to sweep the ground and see if you've missed anything. If you leave something lying for too long, it'll vanish. Sweep through the one level and kill everything. When you're done you'll be informed that "This Cave has been Purged of Evil". Lights shine into the darkness, the world is at peace. At least for a moment. Go back and report your success to the High Priestess.
Note the High Priestess heals you whenever you speak with her. On the success of this mission she gives you a free skill.
Also, as a side note, make sure you trade a fair amount with each person you can trade with. The more you trade with someone, the more items they make available to you, although the prices don't change.
