You wake up and meet "Honest Tom". He says that your boat, the Morning Star, sunk and that all aboard were killed. He lets you know that Dodge City is day's ride away, and that you have a token to the Alhambra.

First, ride along after him to the center of the field area. This is your horse training. Before you begin with him, run around and practice. Your technique is to hold in to gallop, then release for a few seconds to spur him on. You don't want to over-spur as that tires out the horse.

When you're ready, go into the ring for your first race. It's for 3 laps around. Honest Tom does do a jump on the start, but other than that he doesn't cheat at all. Just go around the laps - if you've practiced, it's pretty easy to win.

It's time for round 2. Now you learn to cause damage from the saddle. First you are trampling buffalo. Run at them and use X to skid into them.

Next, shoot some bottles from the saddle. If you've practiced your gunwork, this shouldn't be too tricky. Finally wolves come, and you slay them all.

Seems like you're done, yes? Hah! Honest Tom says you won, see ya. You start to ride away, and his 2 friends show up. Of course it was a trap and they are now trying to kill you. You have to kill all 3 of them. Ride around, shoot them, and you're all set.

Now you can bring up the "world map". You can see yourself in The Pass - the green arrow. If you look at the map you can see the circle riding area. The red x is where you want to go now.

You can look in your weapon listing, very feeble right now. You currently have $40 cash, plus 18 item / upgrade spots.
