Hop on your horse and head to the "Trail of dodge" as shown on the compass. You have to go over left to move up to it.

When you get to the X spot, now you get a new target as you go along the trail. Note that there's a spot of gold on the left - you will need to buy a pickaxe later. There's a pretty sun overhead. Ride along to the ferry.

The ferry operator tells you "last run until further notice - band of apaches". Apparently the indians are upset about a new railroad going through their land, between Dodge and Empire cities.

Ride into town. You'll be told about jobs you can take to earn money. These include the wanted poster right in front of you and the pony express. There's a shopkeep here for buying things. Be careful when you're on horseback not to run people over, that makes people angry at you.

Be sure to read the shopkeep page to understand how he works. At this point we bought the pickaxe, to easily get more gold, and health.

The saloon is marked on your map. Walk in, and say hi to the card dealer. You can play 2 rounds for free, earning $30, before you move on.
