In essence the college is your general utility area where you keep track of your progress, buy new upgrades and so on. You can go back here at any time to see how you are doing and to add on improvements.

Your main stats are the # of chests out of 60, the # of tokens and the # of red boxes. You can see map by map how you are doing.

There are several rooms in here.

The mail room lets you track the mail parcel you found on each level - one per level. These are for fun and useful "cheats" like digging more quickly, money multipliers and so on.

The office area lets you solve a puzzle once you have unlocked all the appropriate characters. This then lets you into the secret levels in the artifact room.

The movie theater room lets you re-watch any cut scenes you want.

The classroom lets you enter secret codes that you encounter along the way. For example when you head into Chapter 2 you see a classroom scene with 13NS01 for Major Toht (it's a zero, not a letter O in that).

The library lets you buy any characters you've unlocked, for use in free play mode.

The art room lets you create any combo of body parts to make your own cool custom characters! Save any one to get an achievement - 20g - You Call Him Dr. Jones

The artifact room lets you see visually all the artifacts you have built in the various levels. You can "buy" one to complete it visually, but note that you still have to actually go find the chest in that level to get the 100% rating.
