FAQ: Using the Decoder
A lot of people write me about using the decoder to get through keypads.
The thing is that these people think of the decoder as some sort of a "magic instant device with ESP" that instantly knows what the keypad should read. It isn't! It's a hacking device. Remember those movies where the thief is trying to break into a lock and the device has to sit there trying all the combinations until it randomly hits the correct sequence? That's your decoder.
Walk up to the lock. Point your decoder at the lock. HOLD DOWN THE BUTTON. It will start to cycle through the numbers, figuring out which ones work and which ones don't. It takes a while!! Eventually it figures them all out, and the door opens.
That's the whole point of the decoder, that it takes a while, and that you have to have the area CLEAR before you start using it.
