You're "given" weapons with infinite ammo for these missions, which start in random locations. You ride shotgun along with a drug dealer, helping to protect him or her while they do their rounds. The local gangs will be annoyed because this newcomer is muscling into their territory. If the drug dealer is killed, you press Y to heal them back up again. If the car is close to blowing up, hop into a new car and your dealer buddy will follow you.

Especially in the early levels, just sit in the car. The police / gangs won't be able to hurt you, and will rarely hurt the drug dealer much. In some cases the cops and gang members will spend all their time shooting at each other.

As you go up on each level, you get more and more weapons provided to you to play with. Note that the Los Carnales missions are a bit "backwards" in that they start with 2 gang symbols and no stars and generally go up with lots of gang symbols and few cop stars. It's easier because the cops don't seem to care as much.
