Quilting

February 5 2014 Quilting Newsletter

Hello again, another chance to pop in and say hello to you all. I heard a very appropriate saying the other day about quilters and I’d love to share it with you.

Quilting gives me someplace to go when I have to stay where I am.
I just love it and for me it’s sooooooo true. Especially if I’m hand sewing. Often I’ll be stitching away and suddenly become aware that I’ve been off somewhere in my head – it might be reliving memories, or perhaps planning another quilt or even thinking about what I will do with that really ugly blue and brown fabric I bought 5 meters of in a moment of craziness!

I wonder do others find themselves drifting off, while stitching? I often think quietly stitching is a form of meditation – the relaxation that stitching brings can promote a state of mind that allows us to “check out” of real time and space and go elsewhere in our minds.

I do know that after an hour or so of stitching and “wandering”, once I’m back in reality, I’ll feel very refreshed and invigorated, almost the feeling after you’ve had a lovely holiday.

Pop over to the forum and tell us if you agree or if you think there’s something else going on. It will be interesting to talk this subject around. Here’s the Link: http://forums.bellaonline.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/855081#Post855081

Last week I posted an article about a terrific Quilters Getaway on Norfolk Island in the south pacific. Dreadful self advertising, please forgive me, I’m teaching at this event in October this year and wanted to tell you all about it. Here’s the link: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art182581.asp
