Welcome to the mid June edition of the Bellaonline Body Art Newsletter.
Summer is time for vacations and outdoor activites. Take care of the ink you have when you're outside as sunburn is the number one way to fade and age the appearance of a tattoo. I'm testing out a sunscreen that I found that's 70 SPF, up from my usual 45-50 SPF. The best protection is to wear clothing that covers the ink during peak sun hours and if you have to show off, do it later at night when the sun has gone down.
If you've just gotten new ink, it's no pools and hot tubs for you until the entire thing has healed, about two weeks for most people. And with a body piercing, it can be months. You can really cramp your own vacation style by getting a new tattoo or piercing right before or during the trip so think twice before you decided to commemorate your trip with body art.
