"I'll See You in My Dreams" stars Blythe Danner and Sam Elliott, both in their 70'. Age is irrelevant to the chemistry they share on-screen, however. The film has given a particular boost to Blythe Danner's career. Danner has said that she deliberately avoids having a specific image, or label attached to her as an actress. This undoubtedly has helped her stage career, but not necessarily her film career.

She has received a great deal of praise for her performance in this film, her first leading role. On Oct. 22nd, the Gotham Independent Film Awards announced their nominees. Danner is up for the Best Actress award. The ceremony is in New York City on November 30th, and tributes to actors Robert Redford and Helen Mirren will be part of the show.

Maggie Smith, now 80 years old, also continues to challenge herself as an actress. Her latest film, "The Lady in the Van", opens in the US on December 4th. Smith plays a homeless woman who is befriended by a homeowner when she parks her van in his driveway. The character is the polar opposite of the Countess of Grantham, Smith's role on "Downton Abbey". Incredibly, Smith recently said she has never watched a single episode of the show.
