Did you know that, according to the organization Save the Children, the United States has the second worst newborn mortality rate in the developed world? Read more in my latest article "High Infant Mortality in the U.S." :

I've been reading The Hospital Stay Handbook - A Guide to Becoming a Patient Advocate for Your Loved Ones, which will be released on November 1, 2007. So far I'm impressed by the author's dedication to patient advocacy as well as her detailed descriptions of how to do it! Look for a review of this book during the month of October!

Be sure to check out our free forums for more news and information on public health issues! I have updated the Diabetes thread, and started a new one on infant mortality. I hope you will stop by and comment!

Feel free to contact me at any time with questions, comments, suggestions, or just to say hello! You may contact me on the main Public Health page, in the forum, or by replying to this email. I hope to hear from you soon.

Remember to pass this email along to interested friends and colleagues, and share the free knowledge! Public Health issues apply to everyone; the more knowledge we have, the better we can protect ourselves and our families.
