June 25 2017 Reading Newsletter
Greetings from the Land of OZ!
My goal for this site is to bring you a mix of articles about reading. I plan to have articles about reading instruction, book reviews, and articles promoting a love of reading.
As a first and second grader, I really could not read. My third grade teacher, Mrs. Snyder, was not going to let that stand. She realized the importance of reading and did not buy into the myth that "if they haven't learned by second grade, trying to teach them is a waste of time." From September through November, she kept me after school, gently working with me until I got it. I bless her name every day of my life.
When You Were Older Book Review
In her novel, When You Were Older, Catherine Ryan Hyde explores one man's journey through life in the post 9/11 United States. This coming of age novel delves into timeless themes that affect all of us. I read this compelling novel in one greedy gulp!
